We're Store of the Week!

There are so many things about this week’s Store of the Week that embody the Lilly spirit- the waterfront location, the beautiful & colorful store, the pink & green oversized “critter” out front of their store (you’ll just have to visit to find out what we mean by that!), the energetic & fabulous store staff and even their store name- Life’s A Beach! And who can argue with that?!

Our store history: Life’s A Beach first opened their doors in 2001, nestled into a small space in the northern Outer Banks Beach town of Corolla. The store was starting to grow out of its space, when an opening became available in the Water Front Shops in Duck. Life’s A Beach owners Mary & Brendan Magner, soon made the move southward to open in its current location overlooking the beautiful waters of the Currituck Sound. After an expansion, and other renovations over the years, Life’s A Beach continues to be THE one stop shop for all your Resort Chic needs on the Outer Banks of North Carolina.

We hope everyone had a wonderful Easter and are gearing up for the start of a fabulous summer!
If you have missed us, here is what the month of April brought ! And it wasn’t showers! (Don’t worry, we always have May flowers at Life’s A Beach!)
This April we participated in several special events, including a trunk show, two charity events, and still to come, the annual Duck N Wine Festival!
We kicked off the month with a Trunk Show especially for a group of lovely ladies at The Connelly School of the Holy Child in Potomac, MD. They shopped their Lilly hearts out for all of their upcoming functions such as Graduation, Easter, and Mother/Daughter Brunch. We have to say the teachers and staffed faired pretty well too! A portion of the sales went back to the school to support their ongoing academic events.
Also in the DC area this month, we set up shop as one of the boutiques at the DC Design House Event. The DC Design House is the regions foremost annual residential design attraction, and is a leading fundraising event for Children’s National Medical Center. The owner of Life’s A Beach is an active board member of the Children’s Medical Center and was very involved with the event. Guests from all over the area were welcomed by the home’s unique designer contributions, plus a collection of boutiques. A percentage of sales were donated to the event and the Children’s National Medical Center.
After a bit of traveling to and from the DC area, we came home to a very busy Easter week! On Friday 4/22 and Saturday 4/23, we hosted a Shop N Share event to benefit the Roanoke Island SPCA! With the help of beautiful weather and our caring customers, we were able to adopt out 3 dogs and a kitten! Plus the SPCA will be getting a nice size donation check from Life’s A Beach as a percentage of sales from both days will go to assist in the needs of the organization. Well Done!
Still to come this weekend, April 30th, the Annual Duck N Wine Fest! Hosted by Coastal Provisions. Between 12 and 3 on Saturday, the Waterfront Shops will be transformed into a culinary delight! 20 + restaurants will pair their duck preparation with a chosen wine. Great food, great wine, live music, and a raffle at the end! Cheers to the end of April!

This weekend, one of the greatest events on the Outer Banks will be taking place! The Outer Banks Marathon, Half Marathon, 8K Run, 5K Run, and the Fun Run start tomorrow, November 13th. We want to wish all the runners good luck and good weather!
We have our very own participant from Life's A Beach! An avid runner, friend, and wonderful co-worker at Life's A Beach, Christy Morris, will be running her 3rd half marathon this year. Next year she hopes to accomplish her goal of running the full marathon in honor of a big birthday ! She's so full of life and energy and truly amazes us with her loyalty to running every fall; Just after a BUSY summer of loyalty to Lilly Pulitzer and Life's A Beach!
In honor of Christy and all the runners this weekend, you'll receive a printed Lilly Pulitzer Water Bottle when you buy any new item from the Resort 2010 line!

A little something fun for locals (and visitors of course!) who may not be able to get to Duck regularly! Your favorite shops are coming to you! Join us at the Front Porch Cafe in Nags Head for several hours of Holiday shopping, or indulge yourself if you like!! Come visit while the kids are in school or make it a girls night out and join us for happy hour! With hours from 2 - 7, you're sure to be able to fit this fun event in!

Tomorrow is the Duck & Wine Festival at the Waterfront Shops! It's going to be bigger and better than last year!
Twenty Area Chefs and Restaurants will be showcasing Duck paired with their featured wine. April 24th Saturday 12 pm to 3 pm. Live Music starts @ 1:30 on the Waterfront Shops in Duck, NC Proceeds benefit the Currituck-Dare Community Foundation and other local nonprofits. Almost 500 tickets have been sold! It's sure to be a mouth watering event!
And what will we be doing to celebrate? When you present your Festival ticket stub we'll give you 10% off your entire purchase - Saturday only. PLUS a special Lilly Printed Wine Bag when you spend $250 or more! Who wouldn't want this cute little gift?!

We are joining forces with this Roanoke Island SPCA the Thursday and Friday before Easter. Between the hours of 12-3 on April 1 & 2, the SPCA will be bringing some of their furry friends up to our deck in the Waterfront Shops to visit with customers and hopefully find a new home! We'll have fun promos and snacks, PLUS, 10 % of all sales that Thursday and Friday will be donated to the Roanoke Island SPCA! So come out and support one of our most loved local organizations!
